Walter De Maria: Lightning Field. On a barren, isolated plain in west-central New Mexico, one of the most remarkable artistic creations of all time has quietly taken shape. Called the Lightning Field, it is a precise geometric collection of 400 gleaming metal poles rising from the earth over an area one mile long and one kilometer wide. more images

I am interested if you saw any lighting. In Design History last year i remember hearing that some people go there and stay at the cabin and not even see any lighting. So was it worth it? Did you see the design work or was it just such a massive design that you don't need to see lighting to be impressed.

no lightning but still very very impressive with out it. as the light changes at dusk and dawn the polls change color. very remote and rustic 6 wood chairs, 1 room, 3 bedrooms, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. it is worth it but you should wait until you are making the big bucks. then you can just experience it and not worry about the cost -- it is pricey. and new mexico is an interesting place.
